KLM Adds to Embraer E195-E2 Order

At the Paris Air Show in June, KLM announced an order of 35 Embraer E195-E2 airplanes for their subsidiary, KLM City Hopper. The order was comprised of 15 firm orders and 20 purchase options. Last week, KLM announced that 21 of the planes are a firm order, with 14 as options. That means, Embraer has won an additional 6 confirmed planes. These planes will come from a leasing agreement with Aircastle and ICBC Aviation Leasing.

KLM will begin taking delivery of these planes in 2021 and they will be outfitted with 132 seats in a 2x2 configuration.

If KLM does receive all of the planes, that is a total value of $2.5 Billion, however airlines and leasing companies always receive steep discounts and only time will tell if they actually take on all 35 planes.

I flew the smaller Embraer E190-E2 back in February for the launch customer, Wideroe, and the plane was gorgeous inside. With recessed lighting on the slightly higher ceilings, the plane was a nice ride for a two hour flight.
